Clay received his Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MTCM) from Five Branches University in December of 2010, and has been a licensed acupuncturist since early 2011. He has been a certified CranioSacral Therapy practitioner since 2005.

Clay is a second generation acupuncturist. His mother, Janice Walton-Hadlock, has a private practice in Santa Cruz, CA.

Prior to studying alternative medicine, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Composition at U.C. San Diego in 2004. Clay lives with his wife and his neurotic dog in San Jose, CA.
